Book design for a course at the University of Baltimore. “The Garden Party” is a realist short story about class issues, and I wanted the book to have a sense of foreboding. Moody pastels and thick florals give way to the interior of the story. It was set in a variation of the classic book type Baskerville. It was printed and bound by Blurb.com, with dust jacket by Columbia, MD-based Indigo Ink.

This story takes place on the occasion of an annual garden party, which is overshadowed by a tragic accident that happens shortly before the party starts. I wanted the opening pages to feel lush and beautiful but also oppressive and slightly menacing.
